Lucía Lundt was born in Mexico City into a family of nightclub owners where art and culture were ever-present. Her great uncle Octavio Paz was a poet laureate, her brother Rafael Lozano-Hemmer is a visual artist, and musicians and painters like Celia Cruz and José Luis Cuevas were an important part of her upbringing.
As a self-taught artist, Lucía began to explore different media: painting, textiles, collage and installation. She lived in Spain and Germany, and it was not until her return to Mexico that she intensified her experiments with color and form, teasing emotion from abstraction, and painting diligently with an intense work ethic.
Today, Lucía mainly works with acrylics, oil, and ink, producing small- and large-format paintings on canvas, commissioned murals, or works on paper.
